Update Posts One | Two | Three | FourHey! Thought this might be fun to try.
Have you ever wondered how something came to be in the Springs, or how I do things? Maybe you have a really general question that you've never asked, or maybe you have a specific question that you've been wondering how to ask. Maybe you have a lore related questions. Maybe you've been curious about me personally. Maybe you don't have any pressing questions. Anyway.
Post your questions below, and in a few days, I will update this post with my answers!
I will answer all questions except ones that fall under the following:
-
Too personal. I'm not giving out my credit car number, or the like. cx
-
Too random. While I like some randomness, try and keep your questions focused on the Springs (or on me
totally not an attention whore)
-
Asking about release times. I'm sure you'd like to know when I'm going to hold a wisp event, or release something new - so would I. I honestly don't know when things are going to happen.

Q: what brush size do you use to line your bases?
A: I typically use a 1 or 1.5 (how that translates from Sketchbook to computer-based programs I’m not sure), and then go over the lines in places to make them thicker, or use an eraser to make them thinner. Most of the time it’s thinner.
Q: about how long does it take you to sketch and or line each base
A: Sketch time really depends on how I’m feeling about a pose/anatomy at the time. If things are going good, a sketch takes about 45min to an hour. If things aren’t going well, a sketch can take days to months. Cx To digitally line a base it depends on how complex the sketch is. To use a recent example, the Nox probably took me about an hour to line?
Q: what is your favorite set of lines or your fav species in general if you have one cx
I don’t have a particular favourite set, but I typically gravitate towards newer line sets. Cx
Q: Do you like seeing Springs fanart more or reading Springs fanfic or both?
A: I love seeing both! There’s so little literature submitted, so I might be a little biased towards it, because it feels like a treat when someone writes something about their pet’s adventures!
Q: Is there any species type (bird, feline, insect, general invertebrate) that you've wanted to add but could never figure out how to incorporate it?
A: A bovine. But seriously. I would love to figure out a way to somehow incorporate a cow-like species (I have a thing for cows, mostly because of how often my username gets mispronounced Cx ).
Q: Do you ever reconsider adding another species because you have "too many" already?
A: I love drawing feline things and equine things, so cyriis, gryphons, xorses, etc have a lot of variation. I don’t think it’s really ever stopped me though?
Q: Lore wise, how would a new species come about in the springs? Would they be previously undiscovered or just the springs didn't have the knowledge/supplies to care for them at the time?
A: Some of the new species are known to the shelter staff, but they either didn’t have the facilities to bring on in, or they didn’t want to until a different time. Other species are completely unknown to the shelter staff, and may have been migrants into the protected area, or just incredibly stealthy.
Q: I know there's the pakpaos, but are any other creatures considered sacred, too?
A: It depends on the culture (the world that the Springs is located in has several dominant cultures). To the ancient Jurans, the ooneshti was considered quasi-sacred, and was a servant of Death – but they weren’t considered bad omens! Firebirds, while not sacred per-se, are considered good signs to see one. Cloud Dragons (remember those guys?) are considered sacred by the Path Guides of the modern Jurans.
(and because I want to answer more…)
Q: Are there working roles for creatures like their real world counterparts [where they apply]?
A: Of course! Lhedis and fleres are good workers, and are particularly skilled at tracking. Xorses are also highly trainable, for riding or hauling (though xares are particularly difficult to work with – think highstrung thoroughbred). If you have a rodent problem in your house, gryphiones are great mousers (those poor little rodents). Almost all the bird species can be trained to send messages. And feral avis, when befriended, make excellent guards – they have an instinct to protect what they consider theirs.
Most cities in the world keep their animal population tightly regulated; they are usually only kept in the city if they have a purpose (“pet” or “companion” is a valid purpose, but licenses for those are not as freely available and so most households are limited to two or three, depending on their sizes). In Iyore though, because of the proximity to the Springs, there’s a much higher population of animals.
Q: Are the pet related sporting/training/obedience/playground/meeting/grooming places? Do we have Feline Mikri shows and stuff? Owner help groups where people get advice from each other about owning an unfamiliar species? V-e-t-s?
A: As much as you would expect. There aren’t usually solid places for most of these, but there are definitely people in the sporting/training/grooming business that travel around. Most are based out of centralized locations, like stables. And because other cities manage their populations, there are quite a few nice boarding places in Iyore that take care of a particular species for out-of-town owners, who visit as often as they can. These places also serve as a center of knowledge on that species, and lots of observations are done there. Of course, when there just aren’t that many of a particular species, new owners are kind of on their own about their care.
And weirdly enough, there aren’t many vets around. It’s a good thing animals don’t get injured all that often.
Q: Do Fat Rabbit do magic shows at all? Does is old magician ever come around?
A: Unfortunately Fat Rabbit’s magical talent is limited to pulling things out of hats. And strangely enough the magician hasn’t been seen in a long time – FR thinks that he’s probably travelling.
Q: Are leash laws a thing?
A: In other cities, yes. Iyore tries, but there aren’t many leashes to be seen and no one generally complains about it.
